As we start to unpack from Daishocon 2013 that was held at the Kalahari in the WI Dells, all we can do is smile. We want to take a moment to thank everyone who has shown their support and welcome new fans and supporters.

New Purple Koi Design Booth Features

001At Daishocon we tried a number of new things and you expressed to us that you LOVED our ideas! We were a bit nervous but excited to try out having not one but TWO booths. We brought in a trial collection of fashion corsets for the budget conscious cosplayer and nearly sold out! We set up a mini steampunk lounge for people to hangout in. Then we also published a couple ancient games and gave them a steampunk resurrection and let Lars teach people in the mini lounge.

Steam Century Interactive Mystery

We also joined forces with the Steam Century crew and became members of their Murder Mystery plot line for players to interact with merchant spies on the Kalahari airship. It was tons of fun and we look forward to doing it again!

What We Have Learned

GamesBecause of the overwhelming positive responses to our new layout, features and products we will be trying our best to continue to bring you the same high quality passion to every convention from here on out. We know that we won’t be able to bring the mini steampunk lounge to conventions where we only have a 1 booth layout so we will be trying our best to continue to have 2 booths for every event.

We also learned that you want more Purple Koi Designs so we are working on applying to more conventions for 2014. In order to be at some of the conventions you, our supporters, have requested, we may occasionally have artist alley tables in lu of vendor booths. You loved our corsets and so we are working on restocking our supplies and making them available to order online anytime and in your size. Our octopus earrings went FAST, like- sold out on day one- fast! You loved the gauge look for the standard ear piercing and so we are making plans to expand that line.

FAQ from Daishocon

009Q: Do you offer an internship program?

A: Yes and No. We call them Minion-ships instead of internships and we have a couple that we are in the works with developing from those wanting to help set-up & tear down, to those interested in creating their own successful Etsy online store. At the moment though, all of our minionships are on a trial basis and we won’t be able to accept applications until 2015 at the earliest.

Q: When will you have a storefront?

A: That would be lovely, but most likely never. In order to afford a brick & mortar store and the overhead and expenses that go along with it, I would have to triple my prices just as a starting point.

Q: Did you make ALL of this yourself?

A: with the exception of the obvious, Yes! I don’t make the corsets, the gaming minatures, most of the DIY pieces, nor antiques – but EVERYTHING else I do! At this moment in time we do not have a functioning minionship program for arts & craft production so everything is hand made by Amy Lionheart.
